Beyond the match.
Football is much more than 90 minutes.
So much happens away from the pitch. It’s in the places we visit, the shirts we wear, the clubs we follow, the people we meet, and the communities that form around the game.
I started Footygal to explore that wider world, through the people, culture, traditions and experiences that shape our love of football.
As an American fan with more than 20 years closely following the global game, I’m fascinated by how football culture travels, how clubs connect with new audiences, and how its growth is changing what fandom looks like, particularly here in the US.
Footygal is where I share what I’m seeing, what I’m learning, and where I think the game is going.
Hey there, I’m Caitlin.
I fell in love with football during the ’98 World Cup. I was studying in France and suddenly found myself surrounded by the collective joy and madness of the beautiful game. I was hooked.
I’ve been obsessively following football ever since, particularly Arsenal, through the very good, the very bad, and everything in between. Over the years, it’s shaped where I travel, what I read, what I watch, what I wear (#adidas), and probably far too much of my family’s life.
My professional background has taken a slightly less direct route into the game. I’ve worked across the arts, hospitality and PR, and eventually decided to bring that experience together with the thing I’ve always cared about most. I went back to school and earned an MBA in Sports Business from the Real Madrid Graduate School.
Since then, I’ve been building Footygal, creating content and events, connecting with people across the football community, and thinking a lot about where the game is heading, particularly for women and newer fans.
I’m interested in clubs, culture, supporters and the spaces where football meets the rest of life. And underneath all of it, I’m still what I’ve always been: a fan who loves everything about the game. (Except VAR, obviously.)
